So I’ve been thinking that it would be really cool if we could get our game (or even just a demo) to run from our website with Java Web Start.

I wrote a webstart test, that you can run from the server by clicking this link:

I jar’d the game and added the necessary webstart stuff, but I wasn’t in the math lounge so I couldn’t actually connect. We need to see if we can get IT to forward the necessary ports to run our game from off campus. (Also, I wonder if that’s related to the problem I posted about previously?) You can try running the game through webstart with the following link, but it takes a few minutes to download the jar file and then all you actually get to see it the login box, but if you want to check it out, go ahead.

I found another 3D MMORPG that runs via Java Web Start - Wurm Online. I checked it out, and it’s kind of neat. I didn’t play it for very long, but I think it’s cool that it uses JWS, and it looks relatively mature. If you’re planning on giving it a go, you need to register for an account on the site first. And it takes a while to download the first time.

Please ignore the many, many emails that may have recently been sent to you.  They were waiting in a queue until Bobby got our RedPanda server to properly send emails.

There are two new ones! Also there should be icons for the inventory in the game, so maybe there will be new videos?? Which, by the way, Heather and Kaitlyn said didn’t work on their computers, so I don’t know what’s going on with that.

I refuse to have anything more to do with this outfit until ‘mission statement’ is changed to ‘manifesto’

A few thoughts.

1) Bios should probably be in the third-person.

2) The tone should be somewhere between professional and quirky.

3) Don’t stress over the aforementioned suggestions. We can always edit things later. The important thing at the moment is to just write them.

I added some captured videos on the main site, in both open-source-friendly ogg vorbis and windows-pleasing avi formats. Some more, silly videos can be found here.

A few biographies are already up on the ABOUT US pages. Check them out!

All artists need to get pictures of their rendered models. We also need to build scenes and take screenshots of the game.

I’m really glad the logo worked out! If you guys want me to change any part of it let me know…

Apparently it was too small to fit as an icon, so I made a red panda favicon. Yay!

The front page’s layout (as discussed by the website strike-force) is in place. All of the links lead to stub pages, which you are free to fill in at any time. Contact me to get a user name and password for the website.

We’ll talk later about who will be in charge of the content for various sections.
